Endless Procedural Magic
In Runecrypt, every card is procedurally generated using a deep yet intuitive rune system.
Each rune has its own basic effect as well as a chain condition tied to that effect. Any two or more runes can be combined together for endless variations!
This system has been carefully balanced to ensure that each effect is neither useless nor mindlessly overpowered. For example: healing doesn't become useless if the player's deck is already saturated with other healing cards. Instead, healing past maximum HP is used to power up other rune effects. Absurdly powerful combos come at the cost of requiring the player to carefully plan around them, encouraging deep strategic gameplay.
In the current version, there are only 6 types of runes to experiment with, but many more (60+) are planned for the full release.
Dynamic Combat
Combat takes place on a 9×9 grid. Use your arsenal of runes to take on waves of various enemies. Instead of being a simple stat block, each enemy type has its own unique traits and quirks. Carefully weave around goblins that can't wait their own turn to attack, or use thorns to punish them. Save your strongest attack to finish off an undead soldier so it can't come back. Even the low-level enemies get this treatment, ensuring every encounter is an interesting challenge.
